The Cats of Rome

When we got to Rome and had our first day in the city, my first stop was to visit the cat sanctuary - Torre Argentina.

Surprised? I didn't think so.

Surrounded by ancient ruins, the lovely people here neuter, spay and care for ill cats in and around Rome although, only ill or disabled cats stay at the sanctuary. Other wise as you can imagine they would be quite overrun! Even though the cats may go back to where they were found, there are many people around Rome who watch out for them. It was very hot when we visited so many of the cats were seeking shade at the time, just like this recently spayed female above. If your a cat lover it's definitely a must if you visit Rome.
